Glyncornel and Llwynypia Mountain
This challenging 5km trek zig zags through the forestry and up and around Llwynypia mountain – but the views are worth it!
The walk begins at Glyncornel Nature Reserve and Glyncornel House, which was once a hospital where many Rhondda residents were born! Since then, it has become an environmental centre welcoming visitors from all over the world.
Cross the side of the mountain, through land used for archery practice (don’t worry they close the mountain when practice and competitions are taking place!) and then up to the Llwynypia Mountain, where you can enjoy views over Tonypandy and Clydach Vale – as far down to Cardiff on a clear day.
Make a stop and complete a short circuit of the peaceful Glyncornel Lake.
