Barry Sidings Countryside Park
Take your next day out up a gear at Barry Sidings Countryside Park - a huge adventure space packed with something for everyone.
Barry Sidings Countryside Park has a bike pump track and renowned cycling trails to enjoy, as well as lots of flat pathways that are perfect for beginners or scooting.
There’s lots of green open space for football, Frisbee, picnics and exciting walks into the mountains that surround the country park. Explore the lakes, stop at the adventure playground, and see if you can spot the resident heron.
Steeped in history, Barry Sidings has been reclaimed from its industrial past. The park sits on the former tramline that once transported coal from Lewis Merthyr Colliery (now A Welsh Coal Mining Experience) to Cardiff Bay, where it was shipped across the world. Today, you can follow this heritage on foot to the park via the Richard Griffiths Tramroad Walk from Pontypridd.
Now an incredible adventure for all, the countryside park is also home to the award-winning bike shop, The Bike Doctor. They offer mountain bike repairs, sales, servicing, parts, and expert advice, making Barry Sidings a trusted hub for cyclists across the region.
After your ride or walk, refuel at the Barry Sidings Café. Expect mega burgers, loaded fries, milkshakes, and indulgent hot chocolate—all in a welcoming, dog-friendly space that caters for muddy mountain bikes and boots.
Keep an eye out for their events – from classic car shows to music nights, topped off by serving Tiny Rebel on tap!
