Places to stay Eisteddfod 2024

The National Eisteddfod arrives in Rhondda Cynon Taf – the place it was first held almost 200 years ago – in August. Thousands of people will use the Eisteddfod campsite. But if you prefer a local stay, we have lots of options for you.

The University of South Wales is based in Treforest, close to a cinema and loads of places to eat, as well as the park and ride facilities planned for the festival. They are opening their student accommodation as single rooms or flats. Find out more here:

Stay in the award-winning High Street of Treorchy – home to the 1928 Eisteddfod – in the large rooms, or separate guest house, at the Cardiff Arms Bistro and Hotel. There’s loads to explore in this historic town.

If you want to treat yourself, Lanelay Hall is home to incredible dining at Blok restaurant, as well as the award-winning Tribe spa, with indoor and outdoor pools.

Relax close to history at the Heritage Park Hotel, which is right next door to A Welsh Coal Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park Museum. Built in the footprint of the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery, this amazing experience is led by men who worked in the mines as boys. Close to Pontypridd and Trehafod train station is on the doorstep.

Dare Valley Country Park is a huge open space on the outskirts of Aberdare, which hosted the first modern day Eisteddfod in 1861. You can see the Gorsedd circle in beautiful Aberdare Park and browse the great range of shops in Aberdare Market Quarter, which was used to host the festival when the weather turned against us that year!

Choose from a campervan or caravan space in the campsite, or book a large, well-equipped room in the on-site accommodation.
