Dr William Price
The statue of Dr William Price, an eccentric druid and pioneer of modern cremation who is said to have inspired Hollywood actor Robert Downey Junior’s lead role in the film Dr Doolittle.
The statue is located in the central Bullring (yes, it was an actual Bullring, but fights were stopped due to the rowdiness of the crowds!) The Bullring is now lined with shops and places to eat and is home to the lovely Model House Gallery, which has a gift shop and guests crafters.
Butcher's Arms Gallery
You can take your time here and explore the shops. If you are hungry, the Butcher’s Arms gallery serves delicious hot drinks, snacks and cakes and is a treasure trove of gifts and homeware!
Llantrisant Church
After a quick refreshment stop, gets back on to the trail, to Llantrisant Church, from which you can enjoy views for miles.
Llantrisant Castle
Then down to Castle Green, Llantrisant Castle ruins and the Guildhall. This is an incredible place to explore. The castle is said to have been the last holding place of King Edward II before he was executed.
The stocks remain but very little of the castle. Say hello to the goats who snack on the greenery that covers the ruins, to keep it trimmed and protect the ruins.
Llantrisant Guildhall
Take time to visit The 14th Century Guildhall, which is now a heritage and visitor centre and is packed with fascinating displays and artefacts. Learn the story of the formidable Llantrisant Longbowmen, who changed the face of modern warfare when they fought in the Battle of Crecy. Kids will love the historic role play.
Llantrisant Common
A trip to Llantrisant is not complete without exploring beautiful Llantrisant Common and surrounding countryside - the Bunny Walks take you through the area up to the mysterious Billy Wynt and Llantrisant Forestry.
