Theatres and Cinemas

Relax and take in a show or a blockbuster.

The two main theatres in Rhondda Cynon Taf are culturally and historically iconic. Park and Dare in Treorchy was built by the local miners and has hosted Welsh legends such as Max Boyce and Tom Jones – its stage was also taken over by Daleks for a Dr Who episode. The Coliseum in Aberdare is where the Stereophonics had their first break and comedian Rob Brydon had the audiences in hysterics! Both are eye-catching, imposing buildings in thriving town centres which continue to host just the right mix of independent, local shows and well-known comedians, singers and musicals. Both also have cinema nights as well. If you prefer, the Nantgarw complex is home to a huge Showcase cinema offering all the latest releases, as well as on-site Costa Coffee.
