The tiny village of Penderyn, in the very north of Rhondda Cynon Taf is home to a very big surprise.

The pure water that flows from the mountains does not just create the spectacular nearby waterfalls, but is also used to blend one of the best whiskies in the world.

Penderyn Whisky Distillery was the first of its kind in Wales and opened by royalty.

Now guests can enjoy a fascinating and unique tour behind the scenes, to see how the coveted blend is made.

See the mill, the mash turn and the process that makes Penderyn such an award-winner, holding its own against the Irish and Scottish giants.

Its drinks were served at a reception to welcome Wales to the Qatar World Cup and former Wales captain Gareth Bale is a patron.
